CRITICAL RECEPTION

A coldly received film, but Gene stands out for her elegance and aristocratic allure. The press commented that she “brightened up a dull production”.

THE ROLE OF GENE

Barbara Hall, a young noblewoman who embodies the promise of stability and civilization in the midst of a savage world. Shooting on location was a trying experience. Gene recounts in his memoirs that he suffered from the cold and the costumes were too light for the northern scenes.
